The Wonder of Technology... and Music!

OK, it feels that I use this Blog to rant, lol! Well this morning wasn't what I'd call great as I was a witness to the world quickest Blue Screen of Death before Windows booted up properly. And as much as I tried using recovery consoles, scheduled recovery tools, Chkdsk, and plenty of other tools, nothing would budge it. So I had to make it a choir of reinstalling Windows again....  Urgh... Not that I lost anything, being the nerd that I am, I plenty of backups of my music, films, and games, and managed to get things back "almost" like how it was, though not totally, you know the drill, you reinstall an OS, and no matter how you try and make it just like it was before, it still feels different.

On a more merrier tone, I got back into my Last.fm account and played some internet radio. So in this blog I'll Mention a few bands that I got into because of the power of the Internet!

  • FlashyGoodness: A chip turn artist who focuses on upbeat tunes reminiscent of video game music. Flashgoodness has made quite a few remakes to video game soundtracks such as Kirby's Dream Land,  Mega Man and Super Smash Bros. Flashgoodness has done music for indipent games such as the challenging Tower of Heaven, and The Underside. You can listen to his music on his own website

  • Alestorm: This one was totally random and unexpected, but this is a Band that mixes metal and Pirate folk music, yes, you heard that right, plenty of drunken "Yo ho ho!"s with crazy guitars in the back! To be honest, when it comes to metal, I don't like the new stuff, I prefer classic metal such as Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and Motorhead. They actually sound good and they're talented, whilst modern stuff seems to be who screams down the microphone the loudest...  Alestorm on the other hand doesn't do "How loud can I be?" in favour of sounding like an pirate, throwing in a bit of humour along side awesome guitar riffs and being awesome! Defiantly a band to look out for if you were like me and gave up on modern metal.
  • Anamanaguchi: A chip tune band, inspired by music from Nintendo Entertainment System games; tunes that came from the NES's 2A03 chip. However, unlike most Chip Tune artists, These guys took a whole bunch of NES consoles, and modified them so that they're synthesizers for Electric guitars and electric drum kits. What you get it something that's a cross between your typical band music, and something from a video game, very cool stuff. They're latest work got them to do the sound track for the Scott Pilgrim video game

  • Plumtree: For those who may not know who or what Scott Pilgrim is, Scott Pilgrim is a set of very good comics starring a video game addict trying to live his life, struggling to find a descent job and trying to maintain a relationship with the beautiful girl she's ever met. It's an amazing comic book that EVERYONE from Generation Y should read! However you should thank this band for giving artist and writer Bryan Lee O'Malley the inspiration from Plumtree's track "Scott Pilgrim", a song about an obsessive  teenage girl doing her best to get the boy of her dreams. Plumtree is an all female independent band from Halifax Canada, and their songs defiantly have strong female vibe to it, but unlike your typical pop songs where female artists go a little "Too girly", Plumtree feels more "Real" in the feminine sense, they're not all about "pink" and other female stereotypical crap you hear on the radio. This is a band you should listen to if you want to hear something different compared to most female bands.

OK, I'll wrap it up there, it's getting late! Heh!

  1. Goobs...reinstalling your OS before work.. not a good day... for me anyway.. I would still be spinning! But... your reviews on music and games.. now that is more insight into Goobs! Good job. I listened to a teleconference tonight about a guy who had a blog that turned into a book.. the blog was about regrets.. what people regretted most in their life... they would come to his blog and spill their hearts... he got a Gig on Dr. Phil.. and he is off to the races... selling thousands of books.. so there you go! Thanks for keeping me in the loop!
