The Subject of Homosexuality

OK, let's put a few things into place before going "Oh my god he's talking about Homosexuality, he must be GAY!!! D:", firstly I am not homosexual, gay or whatever you want to call it, I prefer women, plain and simple. But this blog post is simply here to put my views about homosexuality and why it's not a bad thing...

With the internet being the internet, a tool for communication across countries and cultures, it's great to know that it's used to get along with like-minded people, however my experience with the internet for the last 5 or 6 years has been a bit of a shaky one. Back in 1994 when the internet started, it was believed that the internet would be a haven of free speech to many people, including those of countries that might not have as much as the western world has, unless you're from China were Twitter is banned and blocked, but during the rise of Youtube I started to notice the rise in hatred towards others, be cultural differences or something petty like not agreeing in someone's opinion. But there was a trend where people accuse others of homosexuality because of ridiculous reasons; that or racist remarks towards Jewish and Muslim people. But one subject that appears on Youtube, and the internet in general is homosexuality of other people and how it's either OK or a bad thing. If it's an article, a video, or a recording that against the subject it gets bad, and fundamental religion rears it's ugly face into the scene and spews hatred towards homosexuality.

The hatred is pretty much towards the idea that said religion says that since homosexuality is bad, the people think they need to protest the idea and make sure that people are heterosexual, to confirm to their beliefs. The best example to pick here is the Phelp's Family Westboro Church, a group of people who have gone as far as turning homophobia into misanthropy, I won't delve into the misanthropic part too much, but the family go around and picket funerals of homosexuals and try to stop events that have homosexuality in it. The problem being is that they go a bit too far in the sense that they send letters to families saying that their son/daughter is going to hell because of their homosexuality. Which is incredibly crass and not forgiveable at all.

Thing is, there needs to be a reason for why these people would think like this, and cause the hatred. It's pretty simple if you think to yourself as if you are a god. Lets take 4 people, 3 of which are men, and there's 1 women, all 4 of these people are over 18, virgin, clean, sexually active, and in love. One man picks the woman, and the remaining men pick each other in a moment of love and romance through their sexuality, fast forward to 9 months later, to heterosexual couple have a child, but the homosexual couple don't, now if you're a God, you'd want more people to worship you, so why allow homosexuality to happen when it doesn't reproduce? This is why most religions detest to homosexuality, because it doesn't increase the population for said religion, which back in ancient days made sense since it's guranteed the human race to continue with a low population and high chances of getting diseases, but in the modern world? This becomes a little flawed...

First off, the 20th century brought a lot of medical advances into the world, the child death rate dramatically reduced in the western world and life expectancy increased higher and higher. In 1900, it was recorded the the world population was 1 billion people, but 100 years later in 2000, it blew up 6 times to 6 billion! And yet somehow homophobia still exists...

The chances of homosexuality dropping the human population is pretty much non exist, and even to this day the world population still growing, if maybe it's too much, but I'll talk about that some other time. Just because homosexual people exist it doesn't mean that the population is going to drop. However that's not always the reason for why people are homophobic. From what I've observed in life, people don't really think about "God's need of population", more that people believe that it's "filthy" because of the act of homosexual sex between men. I mean yes, thinking about it does cause issues such as hygiene and disease, the irony is that what can be "filthy" about homosexual sex, heterosexual sex can be just as "filthy". I have heard plenty of men describing about how they have anal sex with their girlfriends; the funny thing about this is that a typical man believes that it's "filthy" for 2 men to enjoy anal sex, but somehow it's totally fine if it's between a man and a woman, despite the fact that it's the SAME ACT. I personally think it's hypocritical that men can think like that, sure not all men do, but I have witnessed males boasting about it and being tempted to call them a hypocrite.

In general, homosexuality isn't something to be scared of. It's not going to kill the world, and can be done in loving in clean ways just like how a heterosexual relationships can be. As long as we can prevent religion kicking in and/or spewing hatred towards others, we can realise that it's no different at all. I've met homosexual people and they're nothing different as a person, just their sexuality, they don't all dress up like the Village people, they're not all into cottaging, and they're not all into being campy. You might found out that they act pretty much the way you expect others to act and may even share interests with you, you don't need to worry about them trying to hit on you, they already know that you're straight, so they won't. Simple as that!

Just adding this in here because it's funny! heh!

Phone rant...

Ok, just a quick blog, that and I haven't blogged in a while. But I've been having an ongoing battle with my phone when it comes to memory. The irony being is that the HTC Desire uses an internal memory and an SD card, sounds great, you buy a  bigger SD card, things go fine... Would be fine if software developers didn't lock down software so that it can ONLY run on the internal memory, what makes thing worse is the petty amount of internal memory you get on the HTC Desire. It's about 150 MEGABYTES! I did say that clear, "Megabytes!", what happens, everything that can only be used on the phone's internal memory gets updates that make the apps bigger and bigger in size, and I keep getting the dreaded "Running out of memory" icon on the notification bar on the top of the screen! Personally I wish I knew a bit more about this phone before I got, and original I was going to get a phone with a lesser specication, an HTC Wildfire, before the nice lady at the store showed me her HTC Desire and proved to me that was the pick. Well, I like the phone, I like how it integrates with Google and such, but what's with this TINY internal memory!

The Dreaded icon I see on a daily basis! D:

It turns out, according to someone that I work with, the internal flash memory in my phone is set up in a way where it's partitioned. One partition is used for the system's RAM, I was a bit "Huh?" when I heard about this, but yeah, HTC phones use Flash Memory as RAM! As the other partition is used for saving "Internal memory only Apps" onto. Problem is, they went in favour for RAM over internal memory size, which now makes me wish I sort of got myself an iPhone like everyone else! But hey, I'm about 7 months into my contract, and I like the phone generally. Apparently I can "Root" (Android term for jail breaking for you Apple people) my phone so that I can change these partition sizes of RAM and Internal memory size, I just don't want to screw around with the phone though. I also heard there's a way for me to hack into apps using the Android SDK, but I'm not a programmer, and even when the web sites made it look easy, I wishes the SDK I has actually worked, and wasn't mega hard to understand!

I just hope the next phone I get actually gives me iPhone like memory sizes in GIGABYTES! HEH! :P

Freedom from XBox Live!

Just a quick one this time, mainly because I'm not quite in the "Right Blogging State of Mind", if that even exists... LOL! OK OK I'm lazy! Get over it!

No longer taking money from me! HAH! :P

Anyway! Hurrah! I'm finally not a gold member any more, and good riddance! The more I look into it, I wonder why on earth I gave Microsoft free money for something that I didn't use! I thought the whole idea with XBox Live was to be a way to play games online with mates and have a good time, to discover that my mates weren't playing that same games I did, they weren't online at the same time I was, and that I was playing way more single player games than online multiplayer games. Then comes to the whole fact that I built myself a gaming PC, discovering that I can play games that look even better than my XBox 360, and I didn't have to pay for online play! Winner Winner Chicken Dinner...  All this made me decide that XBox Live is simply not worth it at all, after all why do Wii, PS3 and PC users get free online play? Well...  People playing MMOs like World of Warcraft have to pay a subscription to play that game, it's not a subscription to play any game on PC.

Microsoft throws out a bunch of marketing stuff like "You can chat to your friends whilst playing games!", this where things do "Pete Tong...", for those out there who have never played an XBox Live game online before there's usually 2 things that may happen if you throw yourself into a random game with people who you don't know.

  1. They're either obnoxious morons who spit out profanity, rasict and homophobic remarks to you...
  2. ...or everyone is scared of what might happen to what happens above that no one has their headset plugged in...
Pretty much it does rely on you to really play with friends who you know in the real world in order to enjoy it, but as I said above, if you/they can't get the time to play, it's almost not worth it...

What this turned out, was that Microsoft made a nice bit of free money from me, and I was a fool to do this for almost 4 years, not taking disadvantage of the service, and not finding the time to play online. People could say this is my fault, and I could take partial credit for that, but there are issues in Microsoft's marketing that needs to be ironed out.

First up, are the features that they lock out when you become a silver member, There's a Facebook, Twitter, and Last.fm app that you can use on the Xbox 360 whilst you're on your couch. Thing is, stuff like Facebook and Twitter are a little silly to have on a games console, Last.fm on the other hand is a better idea! Now when the original Xbox was released in 2002, it introduced the ability to play MP3s in the back of your games, this of course was brought forward to the XBox 360, now yo'd think they'd incorporate Last.fm into the same feature...   NOPE! you can only listen to music on Last.fm in the app only and not in the back of my games, suddenly these features that Microsoft promote, not only are they free to you on a PC, but totally useless on the XBox 360! So what's the point of having it there, and why only give access to this for paying subscribers!? Who's going to prevent me from bringing my netbook down to the living room and playing Last.fm on that as I play games on my Xbox 360? These so called "Key features" from Microsoft suddenly become a bit lame... Not to mention things like online chatting, which I can do with skype, and now with a better gaming PC, I can play games online for free, as long as I don't play World of Warcraft.

Microsoft needs a good long hard think about what they;re doing with this whole XBox Live thing, OK maintaining servers isn't cheap, but geez... They increased the price just after they removed the online play of Original Xbox games, such as Halo 2, you'd think removing that would cut down the amount of maintenance, they could have made the service cheaper! Maybe not...  Still, I'm not upset about being a free silver member, I'm not going to throw away my money for something I'm not going to use, and to be honest, unless Microsoft offers a lot more band for my buck, then maybe...  They should consider these ideas...

  1. Hire long term players to be "Buddies" that can play with you when your friend's are not around
  2. Remove server space for games that are clearly not going to be played, like previous year versions of sports games, Madan, FIFA, etc...
  3. Provide free-to-play on limited grounds services, such as have the ability to play the older original XBox live games online for free, but only with the people on your friends list.
So yeah, listen to me Microsoft, if you want my money, make the bucks worth it, otherwise there's no point!

Start blogging (again...) and my love for the Internet

OK, so I getting into more and more social networking, not only have I been on Google+ for few weeks, but I got myself onto Twitter, and now I feel like I've just wired the Internet into myself! lol

Well you can thank Carra Riley on Google+ for that since she made the suggestion; now as it says in title, it's not like I haven't done this before, however the difference being is that before I used to review games. This time I'm going to blog about almost anything!

So where do I start? Well... it's 2:20 am I can't sleep, I'm addicted to the Internet! lol! We'll start here! The Internet! Great thing it is, though I will admit it's full of unnecessary junk, sort of like TV, but unlike TV I can always find something I want, or like. You see I have this complex, and I'm not afraid to admit it, and I'm calling it the "King Complex". I'm the kind of guy who wants everything his way, the one in control, in the 20th century, the remote control was that, you could control the TV without the need of getting off your sofa. Whilst in the 21st century, the internet allows you to read, see, watch, listen to anything you want without a schedule, perfect for me! I hate organisation! lol! Have it available when I want to see it without that nagging "You gotta go this now" or "Better prepare for it" vibe! That's the beauty of the internet, it's there for when I want it, rather than I have to be there for that latest episode of Doctor Who. Besides the content I see on TV is just stupid. Channel 5 has bought Big Brother, when 4 should have destroyed it ages ago! Commercials and adverts are getting terrible, and the quality in shows are going down and I have to pay more for more channels! Now... as for the internet, commercials and Adverts are blocked by the power of Ad Block Pro, and if I want to see something new and different, I don't get charged for it! Thank god!(Even though I'm agnostic, lol) that we still have Internet Neutrality! Because if we didn't, we'd be paying for web sites like getting new channels on a cable or satellite TV service! and don't get me started on TV Licences! D:< As far as I'm concerned I enjoy the fact that the internet we have now is what it is, even if it might be full of crap, we can change it, unlike TV, which at this point is completely full of crap!
